In Year 5 this year, our reading corner is a calm and inviting space inspired by the beauty of cherry blossoms theme of our classroom, symbolising growth, renewal, and imagination. With cosy bean bag seating and gentle lighting, it’s the perfect nook for children to lose themselves in the magic of books. We believe reading unlocks curiosity, creativity, and confidence, helping our pupils explore new worlds, develop empathy, and grow a lifelong love of learning.

In Year 5, we understand that learning and progression is paramount. Throughout the course of the year we learn and over-learn many concepts within a broad and balanced curriculum; please see the overview for a full range of learning opportunities over this term.

Our learning environment mirrors with importance of learning and progression with bright working walls that are used regularly as a visual prompt, enhancing pupil independence and use 3 before me strategies; driving confidence and ensuring success.

This half term we have learnt many of the skills involved in basketball and today we put these in practise with two fabulous, competitive games in our PE lesson. 🏀 🏃‍♂️👏🏻 ⭐️

What a great, informative and fun day!
The Education leaders at Ewden Water praised the children for being wonderful, polite and sensible and said it was a pleasure to lead them around the site. They asked brilliant questions and have learnt so much! Mrs Hartley and I are very proud 😊
We are now on our way back and will be back in time for the end of the school day.            

After taking time to design, make and edit, our pumpkin decorations are ready to take home. The children have worked so hard to develop their skills of threading, using running stitch, gathering and using glue guns to add embellishments. A huge well done 👏🏻 👏🏻 🎃 🍂 🪡   

We’ve had a fabulous morning, despite the Duchess being unable to attend due to illness - that hasn’t dampened our spirits though, and the chance to meet royalty will be rearranged.
