Eco Warriors

At Aughton Junior Academy, we recognise the importance for caring about the world we live in and encourage everyone to take care of our environment.

We want our children to have the opportunity to have a voice and experience having extra-responsibilities, so they understand how important their role is.

The role of an Eco Warrior will be a very important one. These children will be chosen to promote ways to make our school more sustainable and encourage everyone to be more mindful of our world. The Eco warriors will be considerate of the environment and come up with ingenious ideas to help save the planet.

Rewilding Rotherham - Gold Award 2024

This year, AJA have been committed to developing the outdoor learning environment to enhance our curriculum. The academy has achieved the Rewilding Rotherham Gold Award for;

  • allocating green space to allow wild flowers to grow
  • developing the woodland area on the academy grounds for learning and encouraging wildlife as a community event
  • gathering pupil voice to develop the woodland area using their ideas and interests
  • raising the profile of looking after the environment through assemblies, RSHE and work with families and the local community
  • engaging with local businesses to further promote - working with Biffa to plant Bee Bombs in the woods.

Eco Warriors at Aughton

Our Eco Warriors are focussing on looking after our academy environment for this half term. The team have a set of litter pickers which they have been using to collect litter from the academy grounds and playground.

They will be meeting this half term to look at ways we can make our academy more eco-friendly.
